Navigation Assistance: Keyboard or Mouse?

If you have restricted mobility or wish to avoid repetitive strain injury, you may find it useful to use your keyboard instead of your mouse to navigate our website. By using Tab and Enter on your keyboard, it is possible to navigate and access all areas of our website. The Tab key allows you to move and browse amongst the menus and links displayed on each page, and pressing Enter will activate your request for a particular menu or link. The arrow keys on the keyboard will enable you to move up or down the page or from left to right.

Changing the Text Size

Internet Explorer

From version 7 this browser now displays a zoom tool at the bottom right of the screen. Just click the magnifying glass or select the desired zoom level from the menu. From the top menu you can also choose View > Text Size and select from a range of text sizes. There is also a keyboard shortcut which is the control and plus key [Ctrl] + to zoom in and control minus [Ctrl] - to zoom out. To find out more visit www.microsoft.com/ie/

Firefox

The Firefox web browser allows you to zoom into a page in two ways. Firstly if you go to the top menu and choose View > Zoom you can then choose to increase or decrease the page zoom level. Secondly there is a keyboard shortcut. On Windows this is the control and plus key [Ctrl] + to zoom in and control minus [Ctrl] - to zoom out. On Apple Macs this is done by using the Apple Key and plus (+) or Apple Key and minus (-). To find out more visit www.firefox.com

Google Chrome

The Google Chrome web browser allows you to zoom into a page in two ways. Firstly if you go to the page menu (to the right of the top search bar) and choose Zoom you can then choose to increase or decrease the page zoom level. Secondly there is a keyboard shortcut. On Windows this is the control and plus key [Ctrl] + to zoom in and control minus [Ctrl] - to zoom out. On Apple Macs this is done by using the Apple Key and plus (+) or Apple Key and minus (-). Safari


The Safari web browser allows you to zoom in and out of the page in various ways. You can choose View from the top menu (Mac) or the Page Icon and Zoom (Windows) there are menu options to zoom in and out of the page. There are also keyboard shortcuts to do this, on Windows this is the control and plus key [Ctrl] + to zoom in and control minus [Ctrl] - to zoom out. On Apple Macs this is done by using the Apple Key and plus (+) or Apple Key and minus (-). You can also customise toolbar icons of the browser to include the zoom page functionality in the top bar of the browser. To find out more visit www.apple.com/safari/

Opera

The Opera web browser has a page zoom facility at the bottom right of the window where you can zoom in and out of the page from 20% up to 1000%. Also from the top menu bar you can select View > Zoom, then select various page zoom levels. There is also a keyboard shortcut which enables you to zoom in and out in steps. On Windows this is the control and plus key [Ctrl] + to zoom in and control minus [Ctrl] - to zoom out.
